Dear All,

On behalf of the Malaysia Spine Society (MSS), I would like to thank you all of you for supporting and participating in the 5th International MSS Scientific Congress on August 4 – 6, 2017 at Novotel Melaka, Malaysia.

We believe that our diverse and dynamic group of speakers, expert panels and moderators provided in-depth insight, as well as the practical spine surgery methods and findings shared through the plenary, symposia, debates, expert forums, and operative video sessions brought a significant impact in the local spine surgery scene. Thus, we would like to express our utmost gratitude to the faculty speakers and panellists for sharing the knowledge of the latest spine care, management, research and innovation at the congress. Without them, the congress would not have been as interesting and successful as it has been.

We would also like to thank the reviewers of the free papers for their efforts and time in reviewing the papers and providing us the shortlisted participants who showed a higher quality of work in their research. Also, this appreciation would also go to the panel of international judges of the congress for their efforts and expertise shown in judging and scoring the Best Research Award and Best Poster Award to help us finalise the winners of the awards.

My sincere and utmost gratitude to the organising chairman, Dr Mohamad Fauzlie Yusof, for leading through the overall planning of the congress as well as to the scientific chairman, Dr Chiu Chee Kidd, for providing a comprehensive scientific programme of the congress. Besides that, we would like to thank to Hospital Melaka Orthopaedic Team for their kind support in ensuring the congress to run smoothly. They have assisted a lot on by handling the registration and various minor tasks during the congress.

Moving on, this congress would not be a success without the supports from our industry partners. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the industry sponsors for supporting our congress and making the event more proactive and interesting with their innovations and recommendations to the spine care industry. We hope to work along and with all the industry partners again at the upcoming congress in Kuala Lumpur next year.

Finally, your presence as delegates made this event a remarkable success and your enthusiasm and positive spirit formed our bonding time together both productive and fun. We wish you all the best and hope that you continue to be engaged with the activities of MSS. Stay tuned for upcoming events by visiting mss.org.my.

Yours sincerely,

It gives me great pleasure to invite all the spine surgeons around the region to participate in the 5th International Malaysia Spine Society Scientific Congress from 4th to 6th August 2017 at Novotel Melaka, Malaysia.

The Congress will bring to you the latest spine care and management education, research and innovation. The scientific programme will concentrate on pre-congress workshops, plenaries, symposia, instructional course lectures, debates, expert forums, and operative video sessions to be given by distinguished national and international speakers.

We are inviting spine surgeons and researchers from the region to submit their research work for free paper and e-poster presentations. We will be giving two awards in this Congress: Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation Awards.

We hope that the meeting will enhance your interactions with experts from all over the world to share and improve knowledge and experience on the latest international research and development in the field of spine surgery.

On behalf of Malaysia Spine Society, I encourage everyone to attend this Congress as it will provide an invaluable insight into the daily practice of spine surgery in the region, on a granular level.

I hope you could also take some time to enjoy the beautiful city of Melaka, which is a UNESCO world heritage site that offers a rich history and multicultural heritage.
