  UM SPINE COURSE 2011

UM Spine Course is designed for spine surgeons who are interested in the minimally invasive percutaneous pedicle screws technique i.e. MIS-TLIF and Long Construct Percutaneous Pedicle Screw Instrumentation. This course is useful in imparting surgeons with the required knowledge and it also covers the latest developments in this field. It consists of well-structured lectures followed by a cadaveric workshop. The cadaveric workshop will provide great opportunities for all of the participants to learn this new technique well.

The UM Spine Course was held on 24th February 2011 at the Faculty of Medicine, Malaya University. This 2011 course cum cadaveric workshop entitled MISS (Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery) – Percutaneous Pedicle Screw Techniques. We have invited Dr Koji Sato as our International Faculty whom is a leading expect in MISS to teach us on the latest development of MIS-TLIF. The response was overwhelming as the course attracted a number of 22 participants. These participants consist of 3 Japanese, 4 Chinese, 1 Singaporean, 1 Indian, 1 Sudanese and 12 locals.

Long Construct Percutaneous Pedicle Screw Instrumentation technique is also discussed and taught in details. This technique is useful for spinal metastases, spinal infection and selective fracture cases.
