In line with the purpose of the Society, the MSS is pleased to announce that the following education grants are available to the members of the Society in striving to achieve development and progress in spine surgery through education, researches, and training.
Members with accepted research paper for oral presentation are invited to apply for the education grants as follows to support the registration, travelling and lodging expenses to attend recognised scientific meetings and congresses: -

Criteria for Application
- Life member of MSS.
- Must communicate effectively in English and have a legal status to go abroad.
- Have a university postgraduate level of orthopaedic degree or country equivalent.
- Possess an active medical practicing license.
- Not a recipient of other form of sponsorship for the same meeting or congress.
- Receive the acceptance of the research paper for oral presentation at the meeting or congress.
- Not a previous recipient of MSS Education Grant in the past two years. E.g. Dr A received the MSS Education Grant in June 2018 to attend the APSS Annual Meeting in Taiwan. Dr A is only eligible to reapply for the MSS Education Grant after two years, i.e. June 2020 onwards.
Guidelines for Application
When submitting your application, please include:
- Application form and photograph attached in the form
- Brief curriculum vitae (not more than 4 pages) specifying: -
- Qualifications (including degree(s), institution (s) and years)
- Basic Medical Degree
- Postgraduate Orthopaedic Education (e.g. MS Orth, etc.)
- Spine Fellowship/ Attachment(s) – date and duration
- Present appointment(s)
- Publication/ Oral presentation/ Poster and etc.
- Duration of experience in spine surgery
- Scanned copies of certificates and qualifications.
- Proof of abstract acceptance.
Application should be submitted 1.5 months before the scientific meeting or congress. Kindly submit your complete application to secretariat@mss.org.my by filling up the application form, and submitting the required documents stated.
Applications will be reviewed by the MSS Executive Committee. The decision made by the Executive Committee is final
The education grant will be given to the successful applicant to cover registration fee, travelling expenses and lodging to attend the scientific meeting or congress. Following the scientific meeting or congress, the applicant is required to submit the scanned copy or soft copy of the certificate of attendance and proof of oral presentation (certificate, letter, photograph) to MSS. |
